It has been a family tradition to dine out after mass on Sundays. And every meal is a celebration of something that ought to be celebrated. We usually dine in Greenbelt after the 6pm mass, as my daughters have swimming lessons every Sunday in the area. For this edition, we feature Lusso, an Italian-inspired restaurant in Greenbelt 5. Enjoy!

This after-mass dinner is a celebration of indulgence… gastronomic indulgence that is. Also in appreciation of my daughters’ progress in their voice, piano, and swimming lessons. What a productive weekend! ![]()

Cotechino Salad. With mustard glaze, Italian sausage, and soft-boiled egg. The sausage makes the difference. Otherwise, it’s the usual salad greens.

Asparagus Straws. Love these appetizers flavored with parmigiano. Crispy tasty coating on the outside, soft asparagus inside.

Barquillos Cylinders. Stuffed with chive mousse, and topped with salmon roe and prosciutto bits. The mousse is just slightly sweet, and blends well with salmon roe. The crunch makes it fun.

Spinach-Crab Ravioli. While exquisite enough, it’s a bit pricey vis-à-vis the serving size. They kinda skimped on stuffing too. Good to try still.

Cream of Cepés. Flavored with parmigiano-reggiano flan. I have always loved the flavor of mushrooms. And this soup delivers on all fronts, from taste to texture. Must try.

US Angus Tenderloin. Has a stuffing of scamorza-smoked mozzarella. Not quite sure if it works as the respective distinct tastes of cheese and angus beef are kept intact and separate, i.e., they don’t blend. Harmony is lacking. Good to try still.

Pepato Short Ribs. Braised and grilled, topped with porcini cream. The best of the lot (at least among the dishes we ordered). The meat is oh so tender, the fatty sections sinful. And it bursts in flavors.

These beverages are so satisfying after the sumptuous dishes. Refreshing, thirst-quenching, perfect finish to a scrumptious dinner.
Until next time.
