It is heartening and inspiring to see people discovering their talents for cooking, baking, planting, painting, and any skills that they didn’t know they had in them, especially during the pandemic. Some even take the risk of turning their new-found skills into a business. And I fully support and patronize the small local businesses that have mushroomed and thrived since 2020.
Pastries United is one of them. Pastries United is a husband (Ryan, my nephew) and wife (Arlene) tandem who used to work at a call center. They have found their passion for baking and in a short span of time, managed to build and establish a customer base. Pastries United is on Facebook. Please find below some of my favorite treats from Pastries United.

These oatmeal walnut cookies will truly satisfy the cookie monster in you. Despite their size, they’re humongous in cookie goodness and don’t scrimp on oatmeal and walnuts. Chewy and crunchy at the same time, moist yet firm, subtly tangy and mildly sweet, every bite is a delight! You can’t go wrong with this given the Php200/box of 12 price tag.

The Banana Cake Overload is truly overloaded with everything that is good. The generous serving of chocolate chips, sliced almonds, and walnuts sweetly embraces the moist and dense cake packed with that distinct banana flavor. I am missing the cream cheese frosting though. Nonetheless, this is indulgence.

These Korean cream cheese garlic buns, each looking like a flower bud about to bloom, will surely make your day. The aroma/taste of butter and garlic blends well with the sweetened cream cheese generously piped in the buns. The cream cheese makes both sides of each segment feel a bit like custard that melts in the mouth. Ooh, what a lovely treat.

And since Halloween is just around the corner, these DIY cupcake decor kits will surely lift the kids’ Halloween spirits up! These come in handy as well during Easter. The red velvet and chocolate cupcakes are sooooo good! And the icing is both sugary and buttery, and not too sweet. The kits also come with instructions and suggested designs which you and your kids may wish to follow. My daughters always have a blast of fun with these DIY cupcake decor kits. Most of the time, they do their own designs. It is such a fun (and scrumptious!) way of expressing creativity.

Pastries United also bakes delicious and mouth-watering cakes for special occasions. Give them a try. Go ahead and indulge. You won’t regret it.
